The design, of the first in the history of the digital realm, application for the free exchange of intellectual and material goods.
First of all the users can make transactions based on the bartering. But that’s not all, because they also can pay for the goods with the new, original currency Qmel (QML). There will be some coins generated on the free digital market that can be transformed into cryptocurrency, directly connected with the app. Instead of digging it, like in the case of bitcoins, Qmels can be gained only by the user’s activity in the app.
How to find offers? Like in Tinder. You just swipe screens until you’ve got a match!
Only then you can exchange.
Before I started to design, I made desktop research to know what the market has to offer, are there any other applications similar to this one, but before that, I made quick visualthinking and just draw what am I searching for, what kind of user’s needs I must consider, but also application’s feature, to make the searching, matching and buying possible, taking under considerations the cryptocurrency.
Based on my experience and information I gathered I realised that the matching part won’t work out at the beginning, which is right after the app is launched and there aren’t many users. I knew I’m gonna design it but as an additional feature. The standard search engine and the possibility of exploring the offers by categories are more adequate at this stage.
I draw the user flow for a new user that hasn’t got an account yet.
I always start designing with sketches, which helps to create the basics of a project, thinkthrough some solutions and it is faster than digital wireframing. It also gives some space for first testings.
This is the first step to design the user’s experience. I wanted users to start browsing offers without the long registration process that is usually discouraging. I wanted them to have a sneak peek at the offers, have a glance at the application and see for themselves that it’s worth of registration.
After that, I draw the wireframe prototype to test the design. Watch the video with presentation.
I started the design by thinking about the right colours that would represent the values that I wanted to communicate. Which are safety, reliability but also freedom, friendliness and encouragement to be active.
The primary colour derives from the brand so I needed two more to complete the scheme.
To bring in a modern look, more playful and attractive I decided to choose saturated tints.
