Challenge

Expert analysis of an online platform for fitness workouts. The platform is an online space for both, the group workouts and the individual, from any place in the world, where everyone meets in a virtual gym. In general, it’s a social workout.

Based on the client’s deck I learned what will be the user’s goals to achieve. My job was to verify the efficiency of the existing project.

The methodology

My job was to conduct the UX and UI analysis of the project in relation to best design patterns and practices, but also the standards and solutions practised in this field. For this task I choose the methods listed below:

1

Cognitive walkthrough - In general, testing different user’s flow, from the first contact with the platform, and evaluating its efficiency in achieving his goals.

2

Heuristic evaluation - Finding usability flaws by judging them relative to known principles.

Those methods and conclusions made, are based on my knowledge and experience on user’s psychology, his perception of the interface elements, but also the knowledge of practices of designing. I tested the platform for its structure, flow, navigation, communication and visual.

The report

The main problem with the platform was the lack of the RWD layout, as the result, it’s very difficult to use it on smaller screens. The interface elements are too small and too close to
each other, they haven’t got enough negative space, everything seems cluttered.

The Design System needs some improvements. The lack of consistency according to buttons states and links. This can be very confusing for users and misleading. The same as for establishing consistent font sizing for headings and paragraphs.

The flow of a user trying to choose his workout plan is disturbed which needs to be fixed.
